Panel discussions arranged as part of the Azerbaijan Investment and Culture Summit



Panel discussions were arranged on the topics "Investing in Karabakh: prospects", "Economic and trade prospects of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states: challenges and opportunities" and "Strong startup ecosystem for economic recovery in the post-COVID period” as part of the Azerbaijan Investment and Culture Summit, which started working on October 27. At the panels with the participation of officials, businessmen, and representatives of public associations from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states, thematic speeches were made, and the participants’ questions were answered.

 

At the panel on "Investing in Karabakh: prospects", which aroused particular interest among the summit participants, information was provided on the economic and investment potential of the Azerbaijani territories liberated from the occupation, the situation in the territories destroyed and plundered by Armenia for about 30 years, as well as restoration and construction work performed there by the Azerbaijani state. Deputy minister of economy Niyazi Safarov, chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) Orkhan Mammadov, president of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Organization (KOSGEB) of Turkey Hasan Basri Kurt, acting head of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO)) Yusif Abdullayev, vice president of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ (Employers') Organizations of Azerbaijan Vugar Zeynalov, and the founder of "Dost Agriculture & Livestock Co." Abdulkadir Karagoz shared their views on the topic.

 

At the panel "Strong startup ecosystem for economic recovery in the post-COVID period", regional manager for the CIS and Europe of the Islamic Corporation for Private Sector Development Samir Taghiyev, acting Director General of the Eurasian Regional Youth Forum Center of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Vusal Gurbanov, general manager of the Turkish "IT Valley” Sardar Ibrahimjioglu, acting director of the Innovation Center Vusal Rustamov, and deputy chairman of the Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs Khayala Mammadova spoke about current trends in the development of startups, their problems under the pandemic conditions, and the role of startups in ensuring high economic growth.

 

At the panel "Economic and trade prospects of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states: challenges and opportunities", the main issues were the expansion of ties between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states in various fields based on common values and the possibility of using new mechanisms of cooperation. Deputy minister of economy Niyazi Safarov, executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications Vusal Gasimli, and executive vice president of the Istanbul Stock Exchange Gujan Gulay informed the participants on the topic.

 

The Azerbaijan Investment and Culture Summit will continue today with panel sessions and presentations of startups.

 

Note that the Azerbaijan Investment and Culture Summit was arranged by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) and the Youth Forum of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (ICYF) with the support of the ministries of Economy and Culture.
